I loved this place.. good food (for price etc.) sad that it is closed now. I went there today Dec. 7, signs that a pizza store was coming, the coke fridge outside, all the menus and signage gone. I noticed they stopped taking orders around Thanksgiving. I will miss the familiar delivery car with the red delivery sign atop! Farewell Kitchen No. 1 you will be missed!

It's not fancy or anything but Kitchen No 1 gets the job done with fast service (never takes more than 10 mins), good portions, and at least B+ quality food. Kung Pao chicken is my go to, lots of meat and just a little bit spicy.

I'm not a big carry-out type of person. I prefer to cook, due to food allergies. However, I have a strong liking for General TSO Chicken and Kitchen No. 1 is my go-to!

Menus were dropped off in the lobby of my apt building and my first impression was "WOW EGG ROLLS!!" No chinese restaurants in DC have egg rolls. They were smaller than most but tasty and satisfying. The packets of mustard were potent enough. The Gen Tsao chicken could've been more spicy. Med hot was more like mild. But for the first time, wanted to be safe than sorry. The fried dumplings were tasty and the egg fu young great. Portions were generous. All the employees and there were at least five there when I came in, were pleasant, happy and appreciative to have been able to serve me. This is a definite place to revisit, to try other favorites. Keep up the good work.

KungPao chicken is good. It is done in Northern style. Tasty. Delivery is usually fast and reasonably priced.
